What is Periodontitis

Periodontal disease is a disease caused by inflammation in the periodontal tissues such as gums around the teeth. A state where the inflammation caused by bacteria stays only in the gingiva is called “gingivitis”, and a state where the inflammation spreads to the base (alveolar bone) that supports the teeth is called “periodontitis”. The feature is that it progresses quietly without pain.

If you notice swelling, your teeth will sag and eventually you will lose your teeth. Periodontal disease is a disease that affects many adults, but it is a familiar disease that can occur at any age to the extent that it has recently developed among elementary and junior high school students.
